Grade 3 pupils from various public and private and schools in Nairobi showcased their ongoing learning progress to their parents on Thursday as school term came to a close.
This was in line with the KNEC strategies on the Competence-Based Curriculum where the pupils must undergo certain valuations.
The Moi Educational Centre held parents from Goodrich International Academy and Mwiki Primary School to witness their children’s development.
Mathews Echoka, the Deputy Principal, said the institution is making steps in adhering to the Kenya National Examination Council guidelines.
Ms. Betty Limo, the Senior teacher said that this year’s theme is moulding a devoted citizen for peaceful co-existence.
Under the Competence Based Curriculum, teachers are supposed to teach learners related issues such as the need to hold the nation, despite our folkloric religious and other differences.
She also said that Grade three pupils lately visited some needy people and put a glamps on their faces by spending time with them and donating foodstuffs.
Ms Limo also added that they are glad that Competence Based Curriculum provides opportunities that assist the needy to benefit from school contributions. Caring for the needy is part of patriotism.
She said last year’s refrain of the valuation was about cultural activities for social well-being and environmental.
Limo said that pupils were trained to love and appreciate their particular ways of life, but also to respect other beliefs. Children are born mainly as blank slates, where everything can be written.
She also added that it’s up toparents and teachers to imprint in them valuable knowledge and ethics that will guarantee peaceful coexistence.
Joseph Kamau, from Mwiki Primary School said that levitating a patriotic citizen is an essential responsibility. The pupils proved their patriotism when they took to the phase with patriotic poems, dances and songs.
