The Nairobi International Book Fair is back after a 2 years break caused by the Covid-19 pandemic.
Managers say the event is a big reprieve to publishers and their sunshade body, the Kenya Publishers Association.
The 23rd Nairobi International Book Fair is planned to be held from September 28 to October 2, 2022, at Sarit Centre Expo Hall, Westland’s, Nairobi.
The book fair is composed as the regional marketplace for books and it carries together authors, publishing professionals, booksellers, media, print suppliers, and readers from all over the world.
The National International Book Fair has been held for the last twenty-three years and has grownup to be one of the leading book display places in the region.
Under the melody of Publishing for the new era, happenings lined up during the book fair period include book launches, workshops and seminars on topical issues, a presentation of the Jomo Kenyatta Prize for Literature co-sponsored by Madison Group and children’s activities.
Other activities include, a Seminar on how to get published, a budding Authors Seminar, book authorisation sale and a draw for books- Publishers will sell books at enormous discounts, book displays and assessing unrestricted business opportunities.
Books whether factual texts or creative works, serve as an image of the civilisation from which the writers are strained.
It is frequently taken for granted that when individuals read, positive change is the unavoidable outcome.
Conferring to the association, this being the situation it is therefore significant to ensure that society can still be in a situation to communicate efficiently on issues that challenge it and at the same time be able to do so over books.
