Worries of delayed salaries has absorbed a section of public servants after an exposure by the Deputy President on Saturday this week.
Civil servants and teachers are afraid that the opinions by the Deputy President could mean a commencement of delayed payments of their allowances and salaries.
Immediately after the President and the Deputy President took an oath of office, things would go round that the public coffers are empty and dry.
The first accusations were made by Samson Cherargei, the senator for Nandi County, who said that the President only found Kshs93.7M in the treasury.
The Senator, in a statement he made last week on Saturday concerning the economy, asked Kenyans for tolerance saying that the matter is being taken care of to get the country back on track.
On Sunday, Rigathi Gachagua, the Deputy President, confirmed the Senators words that the government they took over has no money.
However, the Deputy President said money is obtainable for paying salaries to public servants but said they have nothing for development.
The Deputy President added that the condition is very bad, there is no cash in the treasury at all, and the small that we are gathering goes to salaries and you have to retain the country going so we require to do a lot to improve production.
Teachers have been receiving their salaries regularly on 26th day of the month. However, the county including Public Health workers have been undergoing delays in salary imbursement with some even going months without getting their salaries.
Currently Counties have been getting their funding from the treasury for the past 3 months and Governors are still waiting for the government’s instruction on the delayed county funding.
In spite of the statement on the current state of economy of the country, some public servants are still confident of getting their salaries early.

The new Kenyan government shouldn’t give excuses but deliver to Kenyans. Salaries and services should just be given on time.
