TSC has given teachers who had failed to fulfill to its directive last year a chance to declare their wealth.
The teachers are now needed to login to the Teachers Service Commission online wealth statement portal and state the amount of assets they own, their accountabilities and their source of income.
Some teachers are still reporting problems on opening the link which will let them to declare their wealth.
In February the organisation had issued thousands of showcase materials to teachers who had not yet declared their wealth by last year and were planning to take disciplinary act against them.
The commission which shared the list of teachers who had not yet declared their wealth with SCD, had asked the teachers explanations why disciplinary action should not be taken upon them.
One of the Sub-County Directors had cautioned the teachers through a sms errand to school heads telling them that unless there is a satisfactory reason given out, the teachers stand to miss out their salaries.
He added that teachers just similar with other public service employees, are needed to declare their wealth after every 2 years.
According to section 26 and 27 of the POEA, every public officers is needed to declare their IALs every two years. The former wealth declaration was conducted in 2021.
The commission said any statements made after the midnight of 30th September, 2021 will not be concluded.
Dr Nancy Macharia, the commissions CEO, also warned for terrible consequences for teachers who will not comply.
She also said that any teacher employed by the commission who will not yet have to submitted the declaration, gives false or deceives information will be accountable to a fine of Kshs1M or will be jailed for a term not less than one year or both upon conviction.
