TSC OTLINES THE REQUIRMENTS FOR P1 TEACHERS TO UPGRADE.

For p1 teachers who want promotion to Diploma Primary Teacher Education, they have to meet the following requirements:

The applicant must possess a valid Primary Teacher Education certificate.
The applicant must be listed and registered by the TSC.
The period of the course shall be 1500 hours.
The course shall be fully inhabited.
Applicants shall be required to produce evidence of adherence to good behaviors and positive morals.
The trainees shall undertake a teaching practicum of three hundred hours.
The trainee shall take all courses specified in the upgrading programme of Diploma in PTE.
To be awarded the Diploma, the trainee must complete the required hours for course work and the stipulated assessment by the KNEC.

THE CALENDER FOR DIPLOMA UPGRADING STUDENTS IS AS FOLLOWS:

Term 1 opened in 4^th October 2021 and closed in 23^rd December 2021 – it took a duration of 12 weeks.

Term 2 opened in 3^rd January 2022 and closed in 8^th April 2022 – it took a duration of 14 weeks.

Term 3 opened in 3^rd May 2022 and closed in 5^th August 2022 – it took a duration of 14 weeks.

Term 4 will open in 26^th September 2022 and close in 25^th November – and will take a duration of 9 weeks practicum.

There have been holidays of about 1 week, 3 weeks and 7 weeks respectively.
