After ratification of the CBA 2021 – 2025 between Teachers Service Commission and teachers Union on 13thJuly 2021, the commission in the CBA said that raise of teachers in Hard to staff and ASAL will be progressive.
The CBA also said that teachers shall be in accord with the Career Progression Guidelines in force nevertheless teachers serving in Hard to staff and ASAL areas and are acting in administrative positions in a temporary capacity shall be endorsed progressively until they attain grades equal to their respective positions.
Mr Collins Oyuu, the Kenya National Union of Teachers Secretary General, congratulated the Teachers Service Commission for signing of CBA 2021 – 2025.
He also clarified that what Teachers Service Commission what it has done is to list the Hard to staff areas and upheld that they are putting administrators on temporary capacity irrespective of their grades, who will remain to serve in those directorial positions in the Hard staff areas until they achieve their respective grades for approval.
Oyuu also said that those areas are hardship but Hard to staff implying that even positions of Deputy Headteachers and Headteachers nobody is ready to be there and to those who are there are not even trained for those positions in relation to what we have in the CBA.
He added that they are indorsed to act in those positions because those zones are Hard to staff and no one is willing to go there.
He said that what Teachers Service Commission is looking at is the awareness an individual teacher has in line with helping in under acting volume of administration in those areas preceding to one’s grade until when the teacher achieves the full grade of administrator for full approvals of the position of the teacher was acting previously.
