TSC has started the employment of new teachers. TSC has hired 14,460 new teachers to discourse shortage and replace retired staffs.
Teachers Service Commission Chief Executive Officer, Dr Nancy Macharia said all the new teachers were enlisted in September 2022.
In her address at the Kenya School of Government in Nairobi during the World Teachers’ Day Celebrations.
However, Nancy said that “I celebrate the teachers for ongoing to shoulder a bigger weight arising from the increased employment occasioned by the noble 100% transition programme in our schools.
The Teachers Service Commission has posted 14,460 new teachers who were employed last month September 2022.
They are rising from the fresh enrolment, and replacement of teachers who left provision through natural abrasion.
Dr Nancy Macharia said the normal 3-term schools’ academic calendar will begin again in January 2023.
This is after 2-years of trampled studies to make up for time lost resulting from the outbreak of Covid-19 in March 2020.
In addition, during the Teachers’ Day celebrations, 246 teachers were familiarized for their performance in teaching and actual delivery of the curriculum. 51 of these teachers were awarded.
However, added that they are also celebrating 51 teachers who have won national honours over the last 2 years, 21 of whom were awarded in 2022.
As is our custom, the process of recognising the teachers to be rewarded today has been done in observance with the Teachers Service Commission, Reward, Sanction Policy Framework and Performance Recognition.
The Teachers Service Commission boss also welcomed President William Ruto’s choice to form a 49-member unit to review the CBC progress.
She said that she wishes to thank the president for appointing 8 classroom tutors to the team and also confirming that the TSC secretariat is well signified in the Working Party.

She added that they commend and welcome this brave step to engage Kenyans on the implementation of the Competence Based Curriculum in line with the Constitution.
In addition, need all teachers and officers of the teacher associations and unions to make appearances as would be required of the unit to ensure that our country’s education area remains on the right path.
The commission is fully equipped to comply with the approvals of the Working Party as would be rapt by the Head of State.
